Jasper AI Review – The Best AI Copywriting Software (For 2024)?
If you are looking for an AI writing assistant, you couldn’t help hearing from Jasper AI. It is mentioned everywhere!
If you’re like me, you’re always on the lookout for new ways to improve your blog. And if you’re like me, you’re also a little short on time.
So when I heard about Jasper AI – an AI writing assistant software that promises to help bloggers write better content in half the time – I was intrigued.
Could this be the solution to all my blogging woes? In this review, I’ll take a close look at Jasper AI and see how it stacks up against other tools of its kind. Is it really worth the hype?
This Jasper AI review is to (really) help find out if Jasper AI is a good tool for your purpose.
Is it the right tool for you? Should you consider alternatives?
Overall, is it worth investing your hard-earned cash to get an artificially created text or you should stick with writing your own content or hiring human writers?
Let’s figure this out!

What is Jasper AI?
I bet that you already have at least a vague idea of what it is, but let’s be more specific.
Jasper AI is a web-based software offering artificial intelligence writing services for writers, publishing companies, copywriters, or anybody needing to create a lot of content.
That’s the main point of AI writing software: speeding up the content writing process.
Now, you may fantasize about a robot writing all you want night and day with just a set of keywords. We are not there yet. There is still some work to do to produce something meaningful.
However, there are other ways you can use Jasper to create better texts faster. We’ll see that in a minute.
How does Jasper work?
Everybody talks about AI these days but very few have any idea of what is behind it.
Don’t worry, you won’t need a 10-hour lecture on artificial intelligence, but a few points can help you understand what you can expect or not from this tool.
Jasper AI engine is based on GPT-3 technology, a state-of-the-art deep learning algorithm created by OpenAi, a San Francisco-based company founded in 2015 by Elon Musk, Sam Atman, and other investors.
The text you will generate using Jasper.ai directly comes from GPT-3 using an API (Application Programming Interface), which is a bridge between Jasper and the core algorithm.
Each time you click on the Generate AI content button, Jasper will send a request to the GPT-3 algorithm and collect the results.
This has several implications for you.
Why does all that technical stuff matter?
First, it explains why you have to pay a different price depending on the number of words generated because Jasper.ai has to pay access to GPT-3 for each word.
Second, there are different qualities of results depending on the contract the software has with OpenAI.
As you see, Da Vinci is the most powerful, but the slower engine. It is more expensive as well.
Third, this way of operation explains why no AI tool on the market offers a lifetime pricing plan. It would not be profitable at all.
Lastly, the use of GPT-3, although the best solution available at the moment, has its own flaws and this will directly impact the content you will create using Jasper (or any tool relying on the algorithm).
I will detail that with an example later but keep in mind that those AI are generally better at writing creatively and persuasively than producing accurately factual texts.
How the use of AI impacts the generated content?
Every piece of content you create using Jasper (or other AI tools) depends on the initial training of the AI (a mega database of 410 billion tokens named Common Crawl) and the inputs YOU give it.
From this, it can generate different outputs. In Jasper, you can choose the number of outputs for the same input. You can also generate new outputs if you are not happy with them (you will!).
The success of this algorithm resides in the way it has been trained. AI doesn’t know much by itself. Like baby humans, they need to learn. The more they learn, the better they become to predict and generate good-quality outputs from simple inputs.
So, it is still very imperfect, like an older child still learning to write. But for its young age, the algorithm is pretty impressive I should say!
This also means that there will be new and better generations of this algorithm or concurrent ones that will make this tool look like a baby.
GPT-4, the next generation, is expected to be much more powerful. But this is not there yet, and for now, Jasper uses the best available!
What about the quality of the content produced?
The thing is that the models behind this machine learning algorithm are highly dependent on the quality of the data used to train them. Children learn differently depending on their parents or educators, their access to information, and the other children around them.
In the case of GPT-3, Common Crawl (the big database) alone makes up only 60% of the training data. OpenAI researchers also fed in other curated sources such as Wikipedia or relevant books, but also less reliable and not curated sources based on user-generated content, such as Reddit.
This means that the results can be variable in quality and very dependent on the topic.
Thus, you have to keep in mind that the content produced can be biased. It tends to transmit opinions formulated on open forums or not reputable websites such as sexualizing women, or even racist views.
You have been warned, that this technology is to use with precautions.
Please note that this is not because of Jasper itself, but its engine, shared by most of the other AI tools available.
Is the content original or scraped from the internet?
It may seem that it is some sort of content spinner extracting some text from every website relevant to the topic, but not really. It is a mix of scraping and creation.
It is newly generated content by the GPT-3 algorithm from trillions of tokens, these small text elements. It produces a well-mixed result that passes easily any plagiarism test.
In the end, it is not that different from what an actual writer will do: taking information from different sources and remixing them in a new form.
Also, it creates content from this huge database of text elements and YOUR input. You have an influence on the text itself, hence high originality in the result.
Is Jasper easy to use?
Fortunately, it is much easier to use than the complex program that runs behind it.
You can relax your brain now, you don’t need to be tech-savvy to use this tool!
You just have to follow a few steps to get started:
- Choose a plan and create an account
- Choose a template
- Populate the input fields
- Press the Generate AI Content button.
That’s it.
In more detail (and in images), here is how it goes once your account has been created.

This makes Jasper.ai a leader in the market, together with the whole environment of training assets, support, and community (and enthusiast users!).
Jasper subscription plans: differences and pricing
As we have seen, there are different pricing plans: the Starter and the Boss modes.
They are both based on recurring subscriptions, like every other AI tool. You can choose to pay every month or annually to save some money.
In terms of pricing, here are the present deals:
- Starter mode, starting at $29/mo, is for short content creation from 20,000 to 1M words per month (priced accordingly)
- Boss mode, from $59/mo, is for long content writing, starting at 50,000 words/mo up to 5,000,000 words/mo (if you pay the price!)
Clearly, the Boss mode offers a lot more features and everything is done to make you choose this plan. I think that it is fair with all the benefits you will get from this mode. I would recommend choosing this one.
The Starter mode is not very interesting in my opinion and you could get a better deal with another tool offering unlimited words for almost the same price.
The good news is that they recently changed the pricing of the Boss mode to make it more affordable (starting at $59/m0 instead of $119/mo).
Templates
Templates are the heart of Jasper.
That’s also the starting point of your content creation process.
You have to decide first what you want to do, choose the right template, and start creating.
When you have chosen the template you want, Jasper will ask you to populate the input fields before clicking on the Generate AI Content button.
They are quite well described and you will usually know exactly how to use them without spending hours watching tutorial videos. However, you may need extra information that you can easily access at the help desk or the Academy (see the Support section).
Since there are many templates (and more coming!), it can be overwhelming to choose the one you want.
Fortunately, you can sort them by category.
This is convenient to avoid scrolling every time you are looking for a specific template. You can even use the search function to get faster.
Those guys really think about how to save you time!
What are the different categories?
You can choose between:
- Copywriting (named Framework)
- Website
- Blog
- Ads
- E-commerce
- Social media
- Google (for ads and Google My Business content)
- Video (YouTube only for now)
- SEO (Title and meta-description for different categories of pages)
And a few more without categories (see below for a complete list).
Plus 3 templates that stand out: Long-form assistant, Content improver, and Explain it to a child.
These are interesting additions that make a difference from other AI writer assistants.
Not bad, right?
The complete list of templates by category
Since you can’t have access to this list without having a paid subscription, I will give you the full list available at the moment, with their description, so you can understand better what there is in it for you.
Personally, I like to know what I buy.
If you are still ready to this point I bet that you like also to know the details of what is offered with the service you will pay for. Otherwise, it is like going to a restaurant without having a menu. Risky!

OK, still alive? That was a lot!
I think that you have a clearer view of what can be done with Jasper and you will agree with me that you can do a lot.
We will discuss later what you can do and a few particularly interesting examples of use cases.
For now, let’s see in more detail a few of these tools and templates, starting with the most famous one: the long-form assistant.
Long-form Assistant: The secret weapon of Jasper?
There is a particular enthusiasm around one particular feature of Jasper: the long-form assistant.
Why is that? What offers this assistant to help you write lengthy texts?
Two modes of creation
When you choose the long-form assistant, you have two possibilities:
- Start from scratch: You follow your own structure and workflow
- Blog post workflow: You follow a step-by-step wizard to guide you in the creation of your new piece.
The editor writing modes: focus, SEO, power.
When you are in the editor window, you can choose the writing mode by clicking on the (too) small icons at the top of the screen to switch between focus, SEO, power mode.
What are these modes and how do they help you write your blog post?
Focus mode
This is the default mode.
On the left, you have the inputs, parameters, and Compose button. The rest of the screen is a nice clean and wide editor (as a writer, I really like that), ready for you to type or paste some text, such as an outline.
You have basic formatting options for headings, bold text, links, images, or lists.
Note that the text is auto-saved, you don’t have to worry about that.
You will get a new document in your list automatically created with your title, cool!
However, you can’t export your documents at all!
This is bad and a basic feature you would expect from any text editor (even Notepad or TextEdit). You have to copy and paste your text elsewhere. Not cool.
SEO mode
In SEO mode, you get the extra power of Surfer SEO to create content already optimized to rank on Google.
That is if you also pay for Surfer SEO. Otherwise, you won’t have anything working.
We will talk about that later.
Power mode
The power mode is really interesting. You have a new pane with access to all the templates without leaving the editor window.
This is very useful to combine for example some creative stories to engage the readers with a copywriting framework to hook them in the intro.
Get creative!
Is it the ultimate blog post writing tool?
I will give you my personal opinion here, coming from a writer using tons of different editors and testing other AI writing tools.
I am not super impressed overall, except for the SEO mode.
What I like is the wide clean editor. This is a nice interface to write. No distractions, just pure text creation. Pleasant and efficient.
I couldn’t test directly the SEO mode, but I have seen it in action and it seems to be very powerful. If you have both subscriptions, the possibility of directly integrating Surfer SEO is awesome!
This can be a real game-changer from what I have seen. I do a lot of SEO as well as writing and the potential is huge!
Now, the bad (or less good) things.
The power mode is interesting, but not unique on the market and it has a big issue that stops your writing flow: the templates input is not automatically populated with what you already put in the main editor input field.
You have to paste or rewrite the inputs each time you change the template. Quite annoying and not what I would expect from a tool promoting to save me time!
Also, the templates are not categorized and you have to scroll or use the search function to find the one you need.
I have a much better experience using other tools such as Copy.ai.
There is no way to export your documents or even save a local copy to your hard drive or your personal cloud.
All your text is stuck on Jasper.ai servers. I am not very comfortable with that. It is a solid company, but still recent and I would rely on them only to store my precious content.
The solution (the only one!) is to copy/paste, like in the 90s. Come on guys, you can do better!
To be fair, Jasper is not the only one guilty of that.
But still, creating an AI-powered tool with leading-edge technology and not offering the most basic features expected from a text editor gives me the impression to drive a car with a Ferrari engine with the body and equipment of a 2CV. Yikes!
Rant over, let’s continue our exploration.
The magic of AI: Content improver, summarizer, expander
We will experiment a bit with the AI and play with a few special templates, using the same initial text.
Let’s have some fun and see if we can get interesting and usable results!
Here is our initial text:
“Long-form writing is a skill that many people find is lacking when it comes to online marketing. The reason for this is because they don’t understand what long-form copywriting is or why it’s important. The long-form copywriting, in essence, is a way to offer value to the reader without them realizing they are being sold anything. In fact, they may never realize that you have been trying to sell them anything at all after they have read your content. To do this, you need to have a lot of interesting and compelling information in a well-written format that the reader will find interesting”
After a run of Content Improver, it becomes:
“The art of long-form copywriting is all about offering readers something they can’t refuse. You need to have interesting and compelling information in a well-written format without ever realizing you are trying sell them anything at first glance
This text aims convey an understanding on why this skill matters so much for marketing efforts online. The reason many people struggle with producing quality content goes back down two main problems: 1) not knowing what kind of writing counts as “long-form” 2), lacking creativity when coming up with new ways or promoting old ones”
Mm, maybe a bit weird in some places, but pretty good overall.
Let’s play with other tools on the same initial text.
After using the Text Summarizer, we get:
“Long-form copywriting is a way to offer value without selling.”
If we use it on the improved text:
“Long-form copywriting is a skill that helps create compelling content.”
Not bad again. I like the way it writes short and efficient sentences.
Now, if we use the sentence expander on the summarized text:
“Long-form copywriting is one of the most challenging forms of writing. But it’s also one that helps you become a better writer overall.”
These are all quite usable results without tweaking the input to improve them.
I just copied the initial text in the template input and click on the Generate button, that’s it. Then I selected the best output out of 3.
I am quite happily surprised by what we’ve got here. You can definitely use the templates to generate good-quality text in a matter of seconds.
If you are not happy with any of the results, you can regenerate the output or modify your input text until you obtain something satisfying.
Jasper Commands: more magic!
OK, are you ready to see some crazy stuff?
Because there is a unique feature of Jasper that uses the full power of AI: Jasper Commands (Boss mode only).
The principle is to ask Jasper what to do using plain English. Not a template, not a series of clicks. You write what you want and let Jasper do the work.
This is how it works:
- You write a command. For example, “Write some blog post titles about [topic].”
- You press CMD or CTRL + Enter
Here is an example:
And here are the results
Quick and easy!
Or you can ask Jasper to write a video script outline
Which gives:
You can write thousands of commands and new ones are added regularly. Just experiment with them since some of them will work better than others.
Importantly, the result will depend partly on the text which is above the command you type and on the input you gave on the left of the editor.
Pretty cool, right? Think about all the time you can save!
But we are not done yet.
The magic can reach new heights when you stack several commands.
Yep, you can.
This is called Recipes and it is awesome!
Let’s discover them right now.
Jasper Recipes: cook your own content!
If you don’t find what you want in the templates, things don’t stop here.
As I told you in the previous section, here is where you meet with the AI madness: you can stack several Jasper Commands!
If you go to the Recipes menu, you can also select one of the 9 recipes to create blog posts, cold emails, Facebook ads, or even a non-fiction book intro and outline!
Note that you can view the recipes but can’t run them if you are not in the Boss mode since they rely on Jasper Commands.
When you click on Run, you will be redirected to the familiar editor window with a list of commands ready to be customized and run.
See for example the Recipe for a blog post
Then, you run each command sequentially, without forgetting to replace the {TOPIC} or {OUTLINE_ITEM} by your own words, and there you go!
Magic, isn’t it?
Wait a minute. There are only 9 recipes and I told you that there are thousands of Jasper Commands you can use.
Is there a way to go even further and use the full power of this feature?
You are smart, I like that!
Yes, you can!
You can create your own recipes to create your own content creation workflow.
There are no more limits to what you can do.
Did I mention that the Recipes run in the main editor?
This means that you can use them with the 3 writing modes we saw earlier: focus, SEO, and power.
This gets insane!
You can combine templates, your own recipes, and Surfer SEO.
Mind-blowing! ????
If you are an experienced writer or if your company already has its own templates, you can implement them here and save a lot of time.
You can run and re-run your recipes which will appear automatically on top of the basic recipes.
This is one of my favorite features of Jasper and one of the most unique.
Every business is unique so it is very valuable to be able to customize a tool to follow your own process.
Very well done Jasper team!
What can you use Jasper for?
Artificial intelligence is already used by Amazon to make suggestions to its customers, by Apple to recognize faces in photos, and by Google as a virtual assistant.
In the writing field, it is now possible for websites to use artificial intelligence software to write simple texts. It can be useful for small businesses that do not have the time or the money to pay a copywriter.
The best example of this type of software is Jasper AI. This program uses a series of algorithms that enable you to create text.
With a very simple interface, you will be able to choose a topic that interests you, choose an emotion, and start writing your text.
The program will then propose sentences and words for you. You just have to click on the one that suits you the most and continue writing.
After a while, you can save your text and publish it on your website.
The many uses of Jasper
In a nutshell, its primary goal of Jasper is to save time by creating great content. Jasper uses artificial intelligence to create good content for you.
It can be used to write blog posts, articles, ebooks, press releases, web pages, and more.
Basically, you can use Jasper for any situation where you would write text: selling products, presenting your company, publishing articles, writing a book, creating ads, posting on social media, creating your profiles, and scripting videos.
Or any situation where you need to find ideas around a topic or refresh a text.
Using Jasper AI to grow your audience on social media
It proves to be powerful for writing your social media bio, finding content ideas, or writing a post.
Content creation for social media is essential nowadays, but it can also be draining. Thus using Jasper AI can save you a lot of time and your sanity!
Using Jasper to become a YouTuber or grow your channel
I know the headache it can be to create videos for YouTube: finding ideas, outlining, and writing optimized titles and descriptions… it takes a lot of time and you also have to film, edit, publish, answer comments, and post for your community. Almost a full-time job in itself.
No wonder why so many give up after a few months or even a year.
But with a system and a tool like Jasper AI, the nightmare may become a light dream!
Using Jasper for your local business
If you own or work for a local business, you know that local SEO is a must.
A good part of a successful campaign resides in using Google My Business to gain more visibility on Google Maps.
With templates dedicated to Google My Business, you can efficiently create posts for events, news, or product descriptions.
No more excuses to keep an outdated profile that loses clients because there will choose your competitor with a fresh profile. I know that I do it and I am not the only one.
Using Jasper for your e-commerce website
Another interesting use case is for e-commerce.
If you have your own website, you can easily and quickly create product descriptions.
If you use the Amazon marketplace, you have also dedicated templates to write descriptions and stand out from the thousands of products on this platform.
Since you will typically have hundreds of products at some point, you can imagine that saving time to create product descriptions can help you focus on the other parts of your business.
Using Jasper to develop your brand
This is something I didn’t expect.
When you create your brand or refine it, it can be a pain to find out how to formulate your value proposition, your tagline, or even the copy of your homepage.
Jasper.ai can help you with that. As I mentioned, AI tools are great to generate ideas and produce creative text.
Instead of being stuck in front of a white page or piece of paper, run a few templates such as Unique Value Proposition or Business or Product Name.
Even generating new versions of your company bio using the eponym template can inspire you.
Using Jasper to generate more traffic to your website
This is a very common pain point for anybody with a website (everybody, right?): getting traffic so that visitors get to know you or your company and hopefully buy your products or services.
Jasper can help you in different ways to tackle this challenge: creating new SEO blog posts, writing an engaging copy for your homepage, crafting landing pages that your visitors will read and not scroll to bounce back in 2 seconds, creating powerful hooks for your social media post, write emails that people actually want to open and read…
The list is long and you will have a loyal assistant at your side!
Long-form writing? Really?
There is still quite some debate around the possibility of AI writing long-form content.
This is a legitimate question that I had myself when I discovered Jasper.
Does it really help you to write those big chunky blog posts that you would have to pay thousands for a writer to create?
Here is what Jasper AI thinks about itself on the topic:
“Long-form writing is a skill that many people find is lacking when it comes to online marketing. The reason for this is because they don’t understand what long form copywriting is or why it’s important. The long-form copywriting, in essence, is a way to offer value to the reader without them realizing they are being sold anything. In fact, they may never realize that you have been trying to sell them anything at all after they have read your content. To do this, you need to have a lot of interesting and compelling information in a well-written format that the reader will find interesting and entertaining. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be a great writer, but you do need to know how to get people engaged in your work and provide them with meaningful content. When using Jasper AI you can get help creating this type of content. It will be created by an AI bot and can give you ideas for what you want to include in the piece as well as how to structure it and write about it in ways that will be appealing and interesting for the reader.”
Wow, ok, I think that it is quite good actually. The whole paragraph was generated in one shot, without any editing.
Funnily, Jasper seems to be quite self-aware when it says:
“you can get help creating this type of content. It will be created by an AI bot and can give you ideas for what you want to include in the piece as well as how to structure it and write about it in ways that will be appealing and interesting for the reader.”
I agree that the benefit of using Jasper AI is to avoid being stuck when you are writing a long piece of content:
- It helps you get started, get title ideas, or even blog post topic ideas.
- It helps you write a good introduction (so often hated by writers. Yes, I see you, I know you don’t like writing intros!).
- It finds different ways to structure it by generating outline ideas.
- And finally, it helps you write the sections and paragraphs by creating original text on the topic.
Especially if you use Recipes and SEO mode as we discussed.
Seems all good, right?
Well, not so quickly.
When Jasper AI loses it
Look at that for example:
“So, let’s get started! After all, here at JasperAi, we want to de-mystify the whole process and make it as user-friendly as possible for everyone – especially you. Because your time is precious and there are many things you need to do every day in order to keep afloat with the business world… like getting Jasper ai reviews done.“
That looks like a glitch to me!
It started to repeat the same text again and again at the end of the paragraph. Even before that, it didn’t make any sense.
Now you remember that you are asking a robot to write for you. It is a machine and regularly it acts like a machine. With glitches.
It will happen a lot when you create a long-form article. You will have to delete paragraphs and start over.
Jasper can write complete B.S.
Another limitation is the accuracy of the text.
When I say limitation, I am overly kind.
It can write complete B.S.
Look at that:
” “I’m going to die!” Elon thought as he was pursued by a pack of velociraptors.
Elon was a young boy who had gone back in time from the future to destroy man-made intelligent computers who now ruled over mankind with an iron fist, having enslaved them and forced them into submission. He worked for elon musk but elon musk had been killed during his mission several weeks ago, leaving elon alone with no backup or assistance from elon musk.
In his desperation elon began to use the only weapon at his disposal: The intelligent computer known as Jasper AI who controlled all of elon’s technology through an implant chip inserted directly into elons brain, a decision that elon”
This was generated in an attempt of writing a post about the life of Elon Musk.
I never met him, but I think that he would be surprised to learn that he has been pursued by a pack of velociraptors or that he has an implanted chip in his brain.
Well, maybe these are good questions to ask him since he is one of the founders of the lab that created this algorithm!
More seriously, there will be many cases where the mistakes are less visible and maybe more credible. If you give too much credibility to the output, you will end up with some pretty bad content.
The more you generate text, the more likely this will happen, many times.
So, long-form or not?
In the end, is it even possible to create long-form content using Jasper AI?
Yes but not if you consider this tool as a magic wand that will do all the work for you without using a minimum of your expertise on the topic and your skills as a writer.
You need to be (or hire) a good writer first to be able to take any benefit from Jasper for this purpose.
It is a valuable assistant, not a writer.
Jasper AI + Surfer SEO, the winning couple?
One of the most unique features of Jasper AI is the direct integration with a major player in the SEO AI game: Surfer SEO.
I won’t do a review of Surfer SEO here and I haven’t tested myself yet, but this seems a powerful tool that you may want to consider.
It gives you access to keyword research, on-page SEO, and some useful stats on your content, with a global optimization score. All that is directly in your Jasper interface with the SEO mode as you can see in the image below.
There is also a 1-hour tutorial that you can access freely. See it in action:
Also, there is a special offer for Jasper users: 30 days at $1 before switching to the regular subscription. It is a good way to try it on real-life examples and see if it is really helpful for you without any risk.
Now SEO is a complex game with many aspects and factors to consider. But as the saying goes in the community, content is king. This set of tools should help you to create great content without being an SEO expert. (Although some basic SEO knowledge will be necessary to understand what you are doing).
Is the content good compared to a human writer?
You are wondering if a text produced by artificial intelligence software can compete with the good old method of writing the content yourself or hiring a good writer.
Is it really useful or will you lose time and money by trying to make an algorithm work for you?
In short, the answer is no, it is not as good as a human writer. Or not always.
Because sometimes, it can as good or even better than an average writer.
It depends on the type of content and its length.
No, it can’t write a book by itself. It needs human input and the results would complete gibberish without a process during the generation phase and a lot of editing.
For short texts though, it can come up with pretty good texts.
For example, have a look at this paragraph:
Writing good content is a hard job. If you want to succeed with your website and business, investing in quality copy is vital. And there’s no doubt that creating high-quality content can be time-consuming and costly. But is it really necessary to hire a human writer or pay for expensive services?
The idea of using artificial intelligence to generate texts may seem tempting. But is the content produced by Jasper AI good compared to a human writer?
It was entirely generated by Jasper, without any editing.
Not bad I think!
When you think that it is constructed by an algorithm, it is even quite impressive!
This is only possible thanks to the recent evolution of the core language processing program behind GPT-3, less than 2 years ago (at the time of publication of this article).
When you try headlines or short sales copy, the results are quite variable, but you will find a few very convincing ones that you can use directly the output without any further editing.
How accurate are the texts produced by Jasper?
For now, the benefit of using AI is to help increase productivity – by automating some of the writing processes.
However, this doesn’t mean that you should trust the information it provides. We discussed already this point, but I want to insist on that because you are responsible for the results.
Your reputation is one of the most important assets you have in the business world.
It is important that you double-check everything that you get from Jasper AI to ensure that it is accurate, that it makes sense, and sounds right to you.
Just because an AI system works faster than a human being doesn’t mean that it’s incapable of making mistakes. We have seen a few examples of that in this article.
Customer support
When you use any software, it is good to know how good is the support. Especially if you choose an annual subscription (the most advantageous solution).
For Jasper AI, like other AI tools, I think that it is even more important because of the nature of the software. It relies on complex algorithms and you want to know that you can have a human (or an AI!) to talk to if you get stuck.
So, how is the customer support at Jasper AI?
I don’t have direct experience myself, so I dug into user reviews from different sources.
Support is offered first by a help desk with the most common questions you will have. The answers are decent, sometimes as simple text, sometimes redirecting you to YouTube.
You can get in contact by email, live chat, or participate to live Q&A sessions.
From reviews on Capterra or Trustpilot, users seem to have a great experience each time.
Nothing to worry about here!
There is also an active community of more than 43k members on Facebook in a dedicated private group where people help each other and share their tips.
You won’t be alone!
Jasper Academy
Besides the support, you have access to a lot of resources to learn how to get the most out of your experience with Jasper.
If you are just getting started with the tool, you can join a 101 training session (3x a week) to kickstart your journey in the realm of AI-assisted writing.
You can also access the Jasper Bootcamp, a step-by-step guide with a certification if you pass the (optional) final exam. That’s quite unusual and it makes feel like you are part of something special, a unique community of writers gathered around Jasper.
But there is more!
The Jasper Academy gathers a good list of long-form videos that address specific aspects of Jasper and use cases. All are freely accessible even if you are not a subscriber.
They really make a good job here to help you get proficient in AI writing and become part of their community. I have seen that for other AI tools.
User reviews
The first thing you do before buying a product or a subscription service is to check the reviews.
I checked quite a few for you and I must say that they are mostly very good.
With a score of 4.8 on TrustPilot (out of 1500 reviews) and 4.9 on Capterra, you can be confident that you won’t buy flawed software.
The 2% of bad reviews on TrustPilot are from people unhappy with AI, not really with Jasper itself. I must admit that I had to push myself a bit to start to understand how it could actually help me. So, I won’t take these reviews too seriously.
Pros and Cons of Jasper AI
Pros
- A long list of actually useful templates (except maybe the Ridiculous Marketing Ideas, but a little fun doesn’t hurt!). I particularly find useful the templates for YouTube, copywriting framework (PAS, AIDA, BAB, Feature to Benefit), headline generation, blogging (long-form, topic idea, outline, intro), product descriptions, and the content improver.
- The long-form assistant can be used for many purposes: ebook, blog post, video script, landing pages (especially when combined with copywriting templates using the power mode)
- Efficient for creative writing (brainstorming, intros, conclusion) and engaging texts (sales, copywriting). This is to me the best use case of AI tools for this generation. Quite powerful!
- Integration of Grammarly (the best grammar checker on the market) and Copyscape (a plagiarism checker)
- Integration of Surfer SEO to create content that has a high chance of ranking. A powerful combination for content marketing.
- Unique features such as the Jasper commands and recipes
- A clean interface, pleasant to use, with clear guidance for the user.
- A lot of resources to help you, from videos to the private Facebook group.
Cons
- As with other AI writing tools, the content generated can be quite awful.
- You need to edit a lot and learn the tricks to make it create better content. There is a learning phase and you will need a bit of patience before getting good content out of it. Especially long-form content.
- Not as magical as advertised. It relies on your expertise in the topic and knowledge of the tool.
- Not good for writing texts containing a lot of factual information. It is often wrong and you will have to check everything. It might be faster to do your own research. Can be improved if you put the correct facts as input though.
- Unequal quality of generated text depending on the niche. Don’t forget that it relies on a specific database. More popular topics will take a bigger part of the content of the database, so for more specific content, it won’t find a lot of relevant data.
- The long-form assistant could be better to write articles. It doesn’t work well easily. I prefer other tools for that. More of a personal preference though.
- No export option. You have to use the good old copy/paste technique. This is antiquated guys!
- It can become expensive if you generate a lot of content (>1M words each month).
NOTE: the cons are mostly related to the limitation of the GPT-3 algorithm, not so much to Jasper in itself (except the long-form assistant).
Is Jasper better than other AI?
If you read this review, chances are that you are on the fence to buy a subscription to an AI-writing assistant and you haven’t made any decisions yet.
The question you want to answer is if Jasper is the right choice for you and what it offers that you won’t have with any other tool.
First, let’s start with the core of the software: AI content generation.
As we explained, it is based on GPT-3 through the OpenAI API. There is no information about which contract Jasper.ai has with OpenAI and the same for other AI tools on the market.
However, by testing a bunch of these AI writing assistants, I haven’t noticed significant differences in the quality of the results. There might be a difference between the Starter and the Boss mode, but I wouldn’t bet on that.
There is a difference though in the length of context used to generate new content in an existing text. Without surprise, the Boss mode uses more text and hence may produce better output.
Again, this is difficult to compare with other tools. To my knowledge, nobody has been testing extensively the results across different solutions.
However, based on my direct experience and the research I have done on the topic, I would say that Jasper.ai doesn’t generate better content than other AI solutions.
So how do you make a decision then? Is there a difference?
My answer is yes!
Jasper.ai has unique features that can justify choosing it other than its competitors.
These are:
- The SEO mode integrating Surfer SEO
- Jasper Commands
- Recipes
- The number of templates
- The editor interface
- The integration with other tools (Grammarly, Copyscape)
I must add that these features can be combined which can skyrocket your productivity.
I will be honest with you, I was skeptical at first. Maybe because all these tools looked the same or maybe because I was annoyed by all the praise around Jasper (I guess you have noticed).
But I have to admit that it is well deserved and it is the most powerful AI writing assistant I have come across up to now.
I also appreciate their effort to make the Boss more affordable. That’s cool!
Alternatives to Jasper AI
If you have read the previous section, you know why Jasper.ai is the leader in the market (and not only because of some aggressive marketing campaigns).
Now, you may not need all the features or the price point is a bit too high for you, and you are looking for another option.
What are the alternatives to Jasper AI? (apart from writing all the text yourself)
There are quite a few AI writing assistants and I’ve got the impression I see new ones appearing every week like mushrooms in the Fall after a few days of rain.
There are not all equal though.
So what are the real competitors at the moment we publish this article?
The first that comes to my mind is Copy.ai. I have spent at least as much time using it as Jasper AI and I like it a lot.
The interface is not as nice looking (I like it tough) and it doesn’t have all the features, but it is very robust and efficient when you start to use it.
It is a very good choice if you don’t need the integration with Grammarly, Copyscape, Surfer SEO, or use the recipes. I find that there are a few tools that are more interesting for copywriting and brainstorming than Jasper. Quick and efficient. The pricing is competitive as well with unlimited runs.
Another serious competitor is Rytr. With a competitive starting price, it offers over 30 use cases (the equivalent of templates) and many tone variations in a unique editor window. Don’t look in other menus or pages, everything is there. You can’t get lost here!
It is much simpler than Jasper (or Copy.ai), but it can do the job if you don’t need many extra features.
Writesonic is an alternative AI with a particular focus on article writing. There are different templates, but I think that it offers a unique article writing wizard guiding you from title generation, intro writing, outlining, and finishing with the full article writing in one shot.
Of course, you can alter the results at each step and it will have the same flaws as Jasper in terms of the quality of generated content.
My experience with Jasper
I don’t like to review a tool that I don’t use.
That’s why I spend some time playing with Jasper (and other AI tools) to give you a realistic review and not a copy/paste (or AI-generated? This is so meta!) from other websites.
I am not convinced by long-form content generation as such. The results are often terrible in my experience and I spent more time laughing at the quality of the text than actually producing good content.
Also, I would have preferred to be able to choose the tone of voice from a menu than guessing what was available and what term to use. The same for the Customer avatar.
Real a pity in my opinion because it is so easy to code!
But, there are tips to make it more effective: working on a smaller bunch of text by updating the input for each section.
You can also use the power mode to combine outputs from several templates and merge them into a bigger article.
I really like the idea of brainstorming or the headline generator. This is good and often usable right away.
The introductions are good as well. Pretty impressive.
You couldn’t tell if it is written by a human or an AI.
To prove it, I used Jasper to write a full paragraph in this article.
Have you noticed it?
Finally, the Recipes are a game-changer in my opinion. Having the possibility to go beyond fixed templates is a must for a business with a significant content marketing effort.
When you combine them with SEO and the power mode, you reach the heaven of AI-assisted writing!
Jasper AI Review – Verdict
Jasper AI is worth some hype in my opinion, it appears to be the AI writing assistant offering the most features on the market. Its unique features make it stand out from the competition.
From copywriting to social media posts or bio, and blog post writing, it offers an impressive range of use cases. You won’t feel limited by the possibilities. If you need to go away from the predefined path of templates, the recipes open a whole new world of possibilities.
The integration with Surfer SEO (that you have to pay on top of Jasper) makes it a powerful AI-powered content marketing machine.
It is on the more expensive side of the spectrum, but I would say that it is fair with all the features it offers.
If you have a more specific use for such a tool, there are alternatives that could satisfy you.
But, for now, nothing beats Jasper AI in terms of possibilities.
Just to make things right: the quality of the content is not better than other tools from what I could see and don’t expect it to create magically a long-form piece of content just by clicking on a button.
Try Jasper (10000 Free Credits)
In short, you can’t go wrong with this tool But be prepared to spend time learning how to use it effectively and set the right expectations when it comes to using AI for writing content.
